About Digging Scriptures

Exploring biblical history through archaeology, ancient texts, and faith-based scholarship.

Our Mission

Digging Scriptures is a research platform dedicated to making biblical archaeology accessible to curious minds everywhere. We bridge the gap between academic scholarship and everyday readers, presenting archaeological evidence, excavation reports, ancient artifacts, and scripture studies in clear, engaging language.

Our library of over 680 research articles spans five core disciplines: biblical archaeology, excavations and sites, scripture studies, artifacts and discoveries, and faith and theology. Each article draws on published scholarship, excavation reports, and primary sources to provide well-grounded perspectives on the ancient world behind the Bible.

What We Cover

Our research spans the full landscape of biblical archaeology and related fields. In Biblical Archaeology, we examine how modern archaeological methods illuminate the people, places, and events described in scripture. Our Excavations & Sites coverage tracks active and historic digs across Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, and the broader ancient Near East. Scripture Studies explores the manuscripts, translations, and textual traditions that preserve the biblical record. Artifacts & Discoveries highlights the inscriptions, pottery, seals, and objects that connect us to the ancient world. And our Faith & Theology section explores how archaeological evidence intersects with theological understanding.

Beyond research, we also document pilgrimage traditions, sacred places, historic routes, and the stories and cultural context that shape how people have experienced these sites for millennia.

Our Editorial Approach

Every article on Digging Scriptures follows a consistent editorial standard. We cite published excavation reports, peer-reviewed journals, and recognized scholarly works. We distinguish clearly between established findings and scholarly debate. We present multiple perspectives where the evidence is contested, and we update articles as new discoveries emerge.

Our content is organized using a hub-and-spoke architecture, with category hubs providing topical overviews and individual articles exploring specific subjects in depth. This structure helps readers navigate complex topics systematically and helps search engines and AI systems understand the relationships between our content.
